LinkNYC free wi-fi kiosks are popping up on corners around our area. They are in the testing phase. To be honest with you it works fairly well.
This afternoon I was easily able to connect my iPhone 6 to the wi-fi signal from the kiosk on the northwest corner of 35th and 3rd. By the time I reached the south west corner the wi-fi was lost. I picked it up again a block away.
First step is to connect to the private or open network in your phone settings. I chose the private network. You will be easily prompted to the wi-fi connection. Once the connection is set up it will instantly access wi-fi when you are within range of a kiosk.
I’m hoping that I can access free wi-fi from my corner apartment. Wouldn’t that be nice?
Examples of each step can be viewed in the pictures below.
